HIGH-ENERGY, ALGAL-BASED
NATURAL FEED SUPPLEMENTS
Ogden, Utah, February 25, 1996 - Sanders Brine Shrimp Company, L.C., the world's oldest and largest harvester and processor of Artemia cysts, unveiled a new line of natural larval feed supplements at the World Aquaculture 97 Show in Seattle, Washington, U.S.A. this February. Sanders Gold Series, a new high-energy, high-HUFA, algal-based, natural feed supplement is formulated to complement Sanders' established lines of flakes, dry larval diets, and enrichments. This new Series includes some of the highest DHA products on the market. Sanders Gold Series takes its name from a key ingredient in each of the four products a gold-colored alga. Three of these products were formulated for hatcheries and ornamental fish hobbyists:
Sanders Docosa Gold® equals or exceeds the nutrition of the best live algae with 2.5 billion cells per gram, with 28% DHA and 8% DPA of the total fatty acids. It can be used as an excellent HUFA enrichment for rotifers and brine shrimp nauplii, as a supplemental feed to accompany live rotifers, and as a finishing feed for adult Artemia. It can also be used as a partial replacement for the live algae Chaetoceros, Tetraselmis (Platymonas), and Skeletonema, for shrimp larvae (zoea, mysis to PL5), for bivalve larvae and juveniles, and for algae-eating fish larvae. In addition, Docosa Gold has superb attractants and water stability.
Sanders Black Gold® is a fine broodstock conditioning feed with excellent water stability for algae-eating fish and shrimp. It is the first flake formulated with high levels of HUFAs (DHA and DPA) from natural sources.
Sanders Total Gold® is a complete,high-protein Artemia supplement available in two
formulations, with powerful attractants for marine fish and shrimp larvae. Formulated from
zooplankton and phytoplankton, these formulations may be fed up to 50% with Artemia nauplii to augment protein and significantly boost lipids and pigments. Total Gold 1 has highly active lipolytic and proteolytic enzymes to initiate digestion in early-stage larvae. Total Gold 2 has the same proximate analysis for later-stage larvae.
Feed formulators will find that Sanders HUFA Gold® is an excellent HUFA booster ingredient. Offering the highest DHA content of any commercially cultured whole cell, and 48% lipid by dry weight, HUFA Gold® tastes like shrimp but contains 100% algae fish and shrimp don't know the difference! Top
